 PART 1 - Friday afternoon

Jane had regretted it as soon as she’d said it.  But her boss had irritated her and it was a way of trying to get her own back through some one-upmanship.  It had been intended as a throw away remark, nothing more.  It clearly struck a chord with her boss though.  She’d kept it lodged in her memory.  Something to use with Jane at a later date.

Rebecca had called Jane into her office after lunch on Friday.   The working relationship between the two of them had been frosty for a while.   Rebecca might be older but most of the office, Jane included, felt that Jane should have had the promotion.   However, Rebecca now had the big office and was the boss.  It had clearly helped that Rebecca was a close friend of the CEO.   Some of the office thought a ‘friend with benefits’.

Jane knocked at the door to the corner office.   “Come in.  Hello, Jane. Thank you for dropping by.”   Since her preferment Rebecca had become quite brusque.  “How’s the work on the Verity account going?”

“Oh, quite well.   We’ve almost finished the new model and should be able to get the proposal done by the end of next week.”

“That’s good.”   Rebecca stopped and gave Jane a hard look.  “I’m having a party tomorrow evening.  Just a few guests.  Close friends and one or two customers.”

“That’ll be nice.”  Jane wondered why Rebecca was telling her this.  It was unusual for Rebecca to stray from the work agenda.  Then she reflected that if there were going to be customers at the party, Rebecca would want her there too:  Rebecca might be the boss and good at schmoozing but she would need someone who knew what they were talking about.

“I’m going to use outside caterers,” preened Rebecca.

“Really.  That sounds quite grand.”   Jane now realised that Rebecca was going to use this as a bragging opportunity.

“Yes.   They’re meant to be very good.  They’ll even provide some waiters,” Rebecca purred.  “Are you doing anything tomorrow evening?”

“No, I’ve nothing planned.”   If she went to the party on Saturday, Jane would have to let Andy down gently.  She’d promised him an afternoon’s shopping and a quiet evening together watching a boxed set of ‘Orange is the New Black’.  She knew how much Andrew loved the episodes with Ruby Rose.  An early night had also seemed in order.

“Good.”  Rebecca’s next statement stopped Jane dead in her tracks.  “You said you have a maid?”

“Well, I …” Jane stumbled.

“What’s her name?”

“Andy,” Jane replied instinctively.

“Andie. I guess she must have been born around the time of ‘Four Weddings’.  Andie was quite a popular name back in the 90s.   Is she polite?"

"She?"

"Yes, she," Rebecca retorted, "Andie.  Is she polite?"

"Yes, Andy's very well spoken."

"And pretty? "

"Yes, Andy’s attractive."  What else could Jane say?

"She sounds eminently suitable," Rebecca purred.  “I’d like to borrow her for tomorrow evening, please.”

“What?!” Jane exclaimed.

“Waiters can be so clumsy.  And a feminine touch will be perfect with the guests.”

“Well, it’s not quite as simple …” Jane stumbled.

“It’s surely quite simple.  Is Andie working tomorrow?”

“No.”

“Is she going to be out with her boyfriend?’

“No.”  Jane realising too late that she might have made a grave error.

“Well then, I don’t see the problem.   I don’t know any companies who hire out maids and if you have an experienced one, it’ll be so much easier and more reliable.”

“Well  ….” hesitated Jane.

“So you are going to let Andie help, aren't you?” Rebecca continued.   “You'll only be without her for one evening after all.  It's so important to show willing, especially at this time of year."

The barbed comment wasn't lost on Jane.  Bonus time was approaching and she needed Rebecca's recommendation.  "Oh, I'm sure Andy will be very happy to help at your party," said Jane forcing a smile on to her face.

"That's good.  We wouldn't want to let our customers down, would we?"

"No, Rebecca," Jane said, still expecting to be invited herself.

"Can you drop Andy off at my apartment tomorrow evening?  Say 6pm, before the guests arrive?"

"Yes, Rebecca.  Will Andy be paid for the evening?"

“I don't think that will be necessary, do you.  I’m sure you’ll want this to be ‘pro bono’, won’t you?”

“Er, yes,” Jane hesitantly agreed.

"Thank you, Jane. Oh, and since you're not doing anything tomorrow evening, can you go a bit faster on updating the proposal document for the Verity account?    Mr.Verity will be at the party tomorrow and it will be good if I can say the new proposal will be on his desk on Monday morning."

"Yes, Rebecca," said Jane through gritted teeth.

"Well, I think that'll be all.  See you tomorrow at six.  Don't work too late, it should only take a few hours to re-run the models."

"Yes, Rebecca." Jane retreated quickly out of the office before she could be given more work.  Back at her own office, she slammed the door and leant back against it.  It was going to take ages to build a new data set based on the revised assumptions Verity had provided that morning.   It would normally take a week to put together a new proposal and she was going to have to do it over the weekend with no team to help.  At four o'clock on a Friday it was unreasonable to ask anyone else to wreck their weekend plans. So much for doing anything with Andy either tonight or Sunday.

The first problem though was how to tell Andy.  Tentatively she picked up the phone.

PART 2 - Saturday

After calling Andy, Jane worked at the office till gone midnight.  It was too late to head to the coast so she'd stayed the night at her flat in City.  A large gin and tonic, a quick sandwich and she was ready to crash.   In the morning, somewhat bleary eyed, she caught the train to the coast.  A taxi to her house, a double espresso and she just had time to be ready for Andy's arrival.

Andy knocked at her door all boyish and grumpy. He was trying to make a point by wearing a black leather jacket, t-shirt and chukka boots. Although his attempt at a surly, smouldering James Dean look was rather spoilt by the pertness of his bum in the tight, stretch pair of jeans they'd bought last weekend. His hair was more tousled than ever and he'd made no attempt to get ready. His nails weren't done and he'd not applied any make-up.  Jane thought he looked marvellous.  He was such a sweet boy: pretty, feminine features, a rebellious streak, shy but talkative with her, and a puppy dog's devotion, though not only affectionate but rather amorous when she gave him the chance.    After complaining on the phone to her, he'd reluctantly accepted the job based on her assurances that it would help her and that everyone at the party would be fine. She'd omitted to tell him that the hostess would be expecting a girl. She just told him to smile nicely and say little.

Jane got him to shower and whisked him to her hairdresser.   His unruly locks were cut and primped into an elegant bob.  For ease and speed she asked the beautician to do his make up.  While Andy was being made presentable for the party, Jane went on a quick shopping trip.   Simply swapping the chukka boots for a pair of ballet pumps and Andy's transformation was complete.  Jane walked out of the salon hand-in-hand with her attractive niece.  No-one gave Andy a second glance, except for those who admired the pretty thing chatting merrily to her older friend. There was just time for a quick sandwich and coffee in a nearby café before Jane took Andy back to her house.

Jane got him to undress.  Andy was nervous about travelling in uniform but there wouldn't be the time to change at Jane's apartment and he could hardly change in a service station.  Jane dusted him with talc.  She smiled as she saw him stirring.  "Don't be naughty, Andrew. There isn't time.  Maybe tomorrow if I ever get to finish the proposal document for Verity Industries." Andy subsided as he put on suspender belt and rolled his latex stockings.  The latex padded bra came next before he stepped into his latex maid's dress and Jane zipped up.

Jane knelt down as if to pull on his latex panties but instead Andy found her handling his balls and penis.  "I thought you said there wasn't time? " he queried.

"There isn't but you need this ball ring."

"Need?"

"Yes, need," said Jane as she slipped the metal cage over his limp cock, engaged it with the ring and snapped home a little padlock.

"What's that for?" shrieked Andy.

"It's a chastity device.  One of the ladies in 'Latex, Leather and Leisure’ recommended it."

"Yes, I know what it is. But why have you put it on?" demanded Andy.

"Because it's the first time you'll be out without me.  I don't want anyone getting any silly ideas, including you."

"You mean you're not going to be there.  But I thought....”

"I'm not invited.  You're there as a maid.  A maid, pure and simple. I'm going to need to go back to my apartment and work while you're helping at the party.  My boss likes to get her pound of flesh."

"Can I have a key then, please?"

"Of course not," Jane replied. "What would be the point of that?"

"What if I need to pee?"

“You'll just need to sit down like a good girl.  It'll be a good way a reminding you.  Remember the people at the party are expecting a female maid."
"They're what!?" Another shriek erupted from Andy.

"They're expecting a girl," explained Jane

"You mean you never told them?"

"It never came up." Jane stopped and began to giggle.

"What's so funny?"

"Well now there's something else that won't be coming up," Jane tittered.

"Ha, ha," Andy laughed ironically.  "So when will you let me out?"

"After I pick you up tonight.  If you've been a good girl, that is," she said with a smile. "Now put your panties on, we need to get going."

Jane gave Andy one of her long Burberry trenchcoats to wear.  Andy was very reluctant to step out of the house in his pink uniform let alone go to the party.  There had been tears and tantrums but eventually Andy accepted that he had to go or he would be letting his Aunt down badly. His make-up needed retouching but they were still just on schedule to get to Rebecca’s on time.  It might not be raining but Andy did the trenchcoat up tight before stepping out of Jane's house. "Darling, this is silly.  You only have to walk to the car. We're still on my drive.  No-one can see." Jane didn't want to mention the fact that lots would see at the party. Little steps were needed if she was going to get Andy to the party.

Andy took his first little steps walking to the car. Whilst Jane took it in her stride, Andy wasn't so accomplished walking in five and a half inch heels on a gravel path. His patent heels and latex stockings glistened below the hem of his Mac as he stepped out gingerly and crunched tentatively across the gravel. Jane held the door open as he lowered his bottom on to the seat and swung his legs together into the compartment as she'd told him.  Jane closed the Merc's door. Once inside Andy removed the trenchcoat.   No-one would be able to see him through the Mercedes’ smoked glass windows.   They could get on now.   Jane had two hours to get back up to London and drop him at Rebecca's Barbican apartment. It was going to be tight and she was already tired.

Fortunately the journey up to London was uneventful.  Andy maintained a stony silence all the way.  Jane parked outside the apartment block, swivelled in her driver's seat and kissed Andy full on the lips.  "Thank you for doing this, honey.  It means a lot me.   I'm sure you'll like it if I get a good bonus.  We can go on lots of shopping trips and maybe a few weekends away together."

"Yes, that would be nice," said Andy, tears starting to well in his eyes.  He would do anything for her just to be near her and kissed like that.

"Don't cry.  We don't want you messing your mascara or make-up.  Now let's just touch up your lipstick and we'll be ready to go."

At five minutes to six, Jane and Andy were buzzed into the apartment building. As they went up in the lift Jane reassured Andy, "You'll be OK darling, I'm sure. No-one will know.  ”Andy was nervous and trembling.  “Just be sweet like you always are and everything will be fine.”  I'll pick you up later this evening." On the landing, Jane gave Andy a little pat on the bottom and touched his front to check that everything was secure.  At the last moment Jane fastened a little ribbon in the back of his hair and secured his French maid’s cap.   Then they padded down the carpeted corridor to Apartment 1.  She pressed the doorbell and stood back.

After a few moments that felt like an eternity, Andy heard heels clicking across a hard floor.  The door opened.  In front of him was a vision:  a beautiful graceful lady who could easily pass as Jane’s older sister.  She was even wearing latex.  The mature greying blonde wore a chic white blouse and a tight, over-the-knee, pencil-cut black latex skirt.  Andy couldn’t help noticing that she was wearing very high black Louboutin courts.  He liked this lady already.

A slightly deep voice said, “Hello, you must be Andy,” followed by a low whistle as she looked him up and down.

“Yes, Miss,’ Andy simpered.

"It’s Miss Rebecca.”

Andy felt slightly reprimanded.  She was even sterner than Jane.  “Yes, Miss Rebecca.”

“Thank you dear.  My, aren't you the pretty one?   Where has Jane been hiding you?   And where is Jane?”

Andy nodded down the corridor turning towards Jane.  “She’s just here, Miss Rebecca.”

Rebecca stuck head out of the door and called to Jane, “Thank you for bringing Andie.”   She paused, turned and looked at Andy.  Jane saw Rebecca surveying Andy’s deliciously feminine form.  "Such a suitable uniform.  So nice that your maid likes latex too,” and with a little wry smile on her face, “or is that just your taste?”  Then slowly and with emphasis she said,  “You don't need to come back later.  I know you’ll want to get on with the Verity proposal. Tomorrow morning will do.”  And licking her lips, “I’ll make sure Andie is very comfy after our guests have gone.  Ten o’clock should be fine."   She turned to Andy.  “A pretty girl like you will need a good cooked breakfast after a hard night.  Do you like sausage?”

Andy blushed.  He glanced back at Jane with a horrified look on his face. Meanwhile Jane was too shocked to reply.  She gave a little wave as Rebecca took Andy by the hand.   “Come in and let me show you around,” as she ushered him inside.   “I'm sure you're going to do just fine tonight."   The door closed and Jane heard the receding clicks of two pairs of heels.

Tears formed in Jane's eyes as she headed for the lift.   She felt bereft.  But there was something else nagging at her: something she'd forgotten but she couldn't quite place.   She turned back and looked at the door to Apartment 1.  It stayed resolutely closed.  Then the recall hit her.  She desperately wanted to go back and retrieve Andy but knew she couldn't.   Tears started to run from Jane’s eyes.    What had she done?

Part 3 - Sunday (1)

Jane drummed her fingers on the dashboard of the Merc.   She turned off the nine o’clock news on the car’s radio.  None of it was good: Syria, Brexit, the pound, Trump.  It just went on.  The world was in a mess.  But she was worried about Andy.  Her Andy.  She was impatient to see her young lover again.

It didn’t help that she felt exhausted.  She wanted a cup of coffee badly but in the City on Sunday there was nothing open. She’d been up working on the Verity proposal until 3am that morning.  She wasn’t going to stop until it was finished and she was happy with it.  But even when she finally stopped, she couldn’t sleep despite her tiredness.   She wanted to know that Andy was safe.   She’d been thunderstruck as she walked away from Rebecca’s apartment yesterday by the realisation that she’d let Andy go to the party wearing his monogrammed piny.  How had she let that happen?  Tiredness she guessed.  The last two days had been so hectic with so much hard work.   Periods of intense concentration and the worry about Andy had drained her energy.

The minutes dragged by slowly.  She tried listening to music on the radio.  But the babble on the popular stations was inane.  She felt fractious and irritable but knew her approaching period wasn’t helping.  She’d put a pad in her panties that morning just in case but it didn’t help that she also feeling incredibly randy.  She and Andy had had such plans for the weekend.  She felt thwarted and frustrated.  Despite her tiredness, she hoped her young friend would have some energy left after serving at the party.

Jane scanned through the stations and finally settled on Radio 3.  At least there was no silly chatter.  She dozed fitfully until at five minutes to ten she texted Rebecca that she was on her way up.  She picked up the document case from the passenger seat, locked the car and went into the apartment complex.

Jane rang the bell of Rebecca’s apartment.    She heard feet pad across the floor and then a clinking of metal.   The door opened a crack.  Rebecca put on a safety chain.   It hardly seemed necessary in a secure apartment building especially when Rebecca had only just allowed Jane admittance.  Jane could see Rebecca was wearing a light dressing gown with what looked like a flimsy negligee underneath. Unusually Jane had to look upwards to make eye contact with Rebecca.  Jane glanced down and saw Rebecca was wearing a pair of fluffy mule sandals.   They had a transparent platform and transparent heels.   The platform had to be at least three inches and the heels were probably seven inches or more.  ‘Stripper heels’ thought Jane.

“Good morning Jane."

“Good morning Rebecca.  Did the party go well?”

“Yes, very well.”

“Was Andy helpful?”

“Oh, most definitely. You have such a good maid.  So well trained although we did find one or two gaps that needed filling.”  Rebecca gave Jane a knowing glance.

“Is Andy ready?”

“He’s almost ready, I think.”

‘He?’ thought Jane.    “Oh!  You know.”

Rebecca smiled rather like a cat who had the cream.  “Mmmm,” she murmured. Or was that a purr?  Jane could hear some little moans and grunts emanating from within the apartment.  It was probably Andy trying to get into his latex uniform: it was always so difficult if you didn’t have talc or someone to help.  Rebecca looked over her shoulder back into the apartment.  “He’s just coming.”  Rebecca made no attempt to remove the safety chain from the door.  Jane tried to see past her but Rebecca remained blocking the doorway. “I hope you didn’t spend long on the Verity proposal.”

After all her hard work, Jane was taken aback.  She felt sure that Rebecca would be aware just how much work would be involved in putting together the proposal.  All she could manage was the understated, “It took a while.”

“Mr.Verity has said he’s very happy.”  The whimpers from within the apartment were getting louder.    “He’s going to use us in future as his preferred supplier,” smiled Rebecca.

“Oh!”  Jane didn’t know whether to be annoyed or happy. ‘Now she tells me,’ she thought.    “That’s good.”

“I’m sure there’ll be a bonus in this for you.”

“I don’t know, “ Jane said modestly,  “I really haven’t done anything, and he hasn’t read the proposal yet.”  Jane tried to peer past Rebecca.   She held out the document case.  “Here’s the proposal.  I thought you might want to read it before we deliver it to Mr.Verity.”  A load gasp and a little shriek leaked out through the gap in the doorway.

“No need,” Rebecca said curtly, pulling the door closer to.

“What?”

“As I said he's very happy if not ecstatic,” Rebecca continued.

“But how?  That’s not possible.”

“Mr.Verity is delighted with what we do and the service we provide.”  Jane thought she heard a man’s voice, a door close and then some rustling inside the apartment.  "In fact he’s already doubled the size of his order," Rebecca said contentedly.  Jane could scarcely believe what she was hearing after all the effort and long hours she'd put in.    Moments later Andy appeared behind Rebecca.  He was dabbing at his lips.  Rebecca glanced over her shoulder and then took off the safety chain.  She pulled the door wide open so that Jane could at last see her young love.   He was wearing a traditional collarless long tailed blue man’s shirt.  He had no cufflinks and the double cuffs flapped.  The long flowing shirt made it look like a shirtdress.  A thin black leather belt gathered at the waist and gave it shape. Maybe it was a shirtdress.  It certainly suited him.   As did the fishnet stockings he was now wearing and the pink high heels that he’d arrived in.   He was carrying a small shopping bag.

“I thought Andy would be more comfortable out of his latex.   I put his uniform in the bag with his other bits and bobs.   He can keep the shirt, the belt and the stockings.  The stockings are stay-ups but suspenders made them look so much nicer, don’t they honey?”   Rebecca looked at Andy.

“Yes, Miss Bex.”  Andy looked down.  He knew Jane was staring at him and he desperately didn’t want to make eye contact.  Jane couldn't help noticing that his make-up was looking rather bedraggled.  Jane found it strange that his foundation, blush and eyebrows seemed surprisingly pristine while the rest looked tired and in need of a refresh.   His eyeliner had run although his false eyelashes were still in place.  His lipstick was badly smeared.

Rebecca took Andy’s free hand.  “Thank you, Andy for all your help.”  She turned to Jane.  “Your maid was a real hit at the party.”

“Good.”  Jane looked hard at Andy and raised an eyebrow.   “I think it’s time for us to go.  Are you sure you don’t need the proposal?”

“No, no need at all.  Better keep it on file though just in case.   And you,” she said towards Andy, “you’ve been so good.  Thank you for all your help.   Please take this little gift as a token of my appreciation.”  She handed Andy a gift-wrapped little box and then pulled him towards her, bent slightly, put a hand behind his head and kissed him full on the lips while staring over his shoulder at Jane.  Jane glared back at her.  As Rebecca finally pulled away, “I’d love to have you around again some day, especially if I have another party."

“Thank you, Miss Bex.”

“Say goodbye, Andy,” said Jane.

“Goodbye, Bex.”

“Au revoir, Andy.  Au revoir,” said Rebecca and closed the door.

Jane took Andy firmly by the hand and led him along the corridor to the lift.  He had some explaining to do.

Part 4 - Sunday (2)

Jane did not bother helping Andy into the Merc.   Andy opened the passenger door and slid into the leather seat.  The leather was cool against his bottom; it matched the atmosphere within the car, which was distinctly frosty.   Jane started the engine, checked her mirrors and pulled away.  It was twenty past ten.   They should reach her house by the coast shortly after mid-day.  That’s if she didn’t just go direct to Andy’s parents’ house and drop her passenger off as he was.  He could come round and pick-up his jeans later, if he dared she thought.   Neither spoke.

As they’d walked away from Rebecca’s apartment, Andy had fallen in behind Jane.   Approaching the lift, Jane felt Andy’s hand touch hers and try to take hold of her palm.  She’d pushed it away.  She didn’t look at him in the lift and just stared at the buttons.

It was Sunday morning in the City and traffic was very light.  Jane made good progress, deciding to avoid the M25 and head due south across the river.  All the time she drove in silence.  She picked up the M23 and put the throttle down.  She wanted to get the journey over with. Eventually Andy spoke although it was more of a nervous mumble.  “Please Aunt Jane, I need the toilet.  Can we stop, please?”

“Yes, if we must,” Jane replied grudgingly.  Then she added, “I could do with a cup of coffee myself.”

“Thank you, Aunt Jane.”

“Oh, it’s Jane is it?  Not Jan, or Janey.“

“Please, Aunt Jane,” Andy pleaded.

“Or maybe Jex?”  Andy did not respond.

Just before the motorway merged into the A-road, Jane pulled off for the Services. Although it was a small service area and quite busy, there were still a few spaces and she could park quite near the entrance.  As she came to halt she said, “Off you go then.  I’ll see you in the Café.”

Andy didn’t move.  At last he spoke, “Could I borrow the trench-coat, please Aunt Jane.”

“What do you need that for?   You seem quite adequately dressed.  ‘Beccs’ seemed very happy with what you were wearing,” she said sneeringly.  “Don’t you feel comfortable in her clothes?”

“Please, Aunt Jane?” Andy implored.   Jane was still holding the handbrake lever.  She felt a soft little hand rest on top of hers.  It was trembling.  She wanted to push it away but instead turned towards Andy.  It was the first time she’d looked him properly in the face since leaving Rebecca’s apartment.  The front neckline of his shirt had darkened: it was damp with tears that were streaming from Andy’s eyes.  Andy’s mascara and eyeliner had made dirty streaks across his face and down his chin and neck.  He’d clearly been sobbing silently throughout the journey.

Jane still wanted to be annoyed with him but she was finding it difficult.   Her boy was in tears and crying his heart out.  Her heart began to thaw.   She said,  “Yes, you can borrow my coat.  It sort of suits you.”   Jane freed her hand, got out of the car and retrieved the coat from the back seat.   She went round and opened the passenger door shielding him from other people on the car park.   She held out the coat while Andy, emerging from his seat, tucked his arms into the sleeves.   She wrapped the coat around him and knotted the belt.   Although Andy didn’t raise his head or his eyes, he looked like a bedraggled young waif.   She placed her hands on his upper arms and held him a few inches from her.  She couldn’t bear seeing Andy looking so sad and sorry.  She composed herself and said, “You know I love you.”

“Yes, Auntie.   Yes, Aunt Jane, I do.”

Jane let go of Andy and reached into the glove box of the car to retrieve her handbag. “Now let’s get you to the loo and tidied up.”   She locked the car and walked hand-in-hand with Andy across the entrance to the Services.  Andy still had his head down, not wanting anyone to look at him.  As she pointed him in the direction of the Ladies, Jane opened her handbag and took out her make-up case.  “You’ll find some wet wipes and what you need, she said passing him the case that he took tentatively.  “Come on honey, we need to get you presentable.”  With a firm on his bottom, Jane pushed him towards the loo.  “I’ll be over in Costa’s.  Do you want anything?”

“A skinny latte, please,” he said and went into the Ladies while Jane joined the queue to place her order.

“A double espresso, a regular skinny latte, and two glasses of water, please.”  Jane wondered whether Andy would want anything to eat and then thought about the hot breakfast he may have already had.  “And a pain au chocolat, please.”    Jane paid and after a short wait was given a tray with the drinks and food.  There wasn’t much seating space and she took the only available little table near the window.   She sipped the espresso then drank some water.
The coffee helped her clear her head.  She knew she’d been unreasonable.  After all she’d allowed Andy to get into this predicament.  It didn’t help that she was furious with Rebecca.  She’d worked hard on the Verity proposal and to find that Rebecca had somehow already secured the deal was simply unacceptable.    She knew she was directing some of her fury with Rebecca at Andy.  It was only natural that Rebecca would find Andy attractive: Jane would have been disappointed if she hadn’t.    It was what had happened between her boss and Andy that concerned Jane.   That wasn’t just fury.  It was jealousy, possessiveness and even a sense of violation.  Rebecca had kissed her boy.

Part 5 - Sunday (3)

Jane drank more of her coffee.  What was keeping Andy?  He only needed a pee and a bit of a tidy-up.  A procession of women and girls were going in and out of the Ladies but there was no sign of Andy.  She wondered if he’d slunk out while she was buying the coffee.  She was considering going in herself to look for him when he emerged.  The mascara streaks and lipstick smears had gone.   He’d not only wiped them away he’d also removed his false eyelashes.  In place he had a complete new appearance.   His complexion was darker; he was wearing a different foundation and powder.  Although his cheekbones were still contoured his bronzer was lighter and more subtle than last night, with a delicate blush. His eye shadow was a smoky grey rather than the bright blue of yesterday and early this morning, while his lips were no longer a pinky shade; they were a deeper red.
As Andy walked across the concourse to the café, Jane went all fuzzy as recognition dawned:  she realised she was looking at a mirror image: a somewhat younger image perhaps, but a close likeness nevertheless.   Andy had used her make-up and styled his face exactly like hers.  His skills with cosmetics had certainly improved.  He had delicately applied eyeliner to achieve a sharp narrow cats-eye, had blended well with the brushes, and had used pencil to give his lips a sharp outline and complement the carmine red of the lipstick.  He looked lovely.   Heads turned to see the pretty, stylish girl with pink heels and tightly belted trenchcoat walking through the café towards the somewhat older lady seated at the far table.  From bedraggled waif, he now had the appearance and style of chic French film star.  Jane beamed at him.  Andy did not notice:  although he walked with more confidence, his eyes were still down.
As Andy sat down opposite Jane, she said, “You look gorgeous, honey.”   People in the coffee shop were staring at them both transfixed.  Were they mother and daughter?  Or perhaps an older sister with her younger sibling?
Andy looked up sheepishly.  Their eyes met.  “Thank you Auntie.”   Jane got up from her chair, leant across the table and kissed Andy on the lips.   Andy’s eyes lit up.   Jane pulled back while he composed himself, then she kissed him again.   Some of the older ladies in the coffee shop looked away shocked.  Maybe not sisters, then?   Some of the younger girls looked on in admiration and envy.  So the lady had a cutie.
“Drink your latte, honey.”  Jane smiled at Andy.   “I’m sorry I got you into this.  It’s all my fault.”
“No, Auntie, it’s not.”
“I was stupid to let Rebecca borrow you for the evening.   I should never have mentioned that I had a maid.   It was just that she’d annoyed me so much talking about her new car and her new apartment now that she’d been promoted.  I just wanted to get back at her.”
“But you do have a maid, Aunt Jane.”
“Yes, I know honey but now she knows all about you too.   I felt so silly when I remembered and your pinafore.  How could I have been so forgetful?  I guess it was just the pressure of work.”
“Oh, you remembered.  Don’t blame yourself.  I didn’t notice either.”
“Letting you wear that monogrammed pinny was just plain silly.   When did Rebecca notice?”
“Well, she didn’t at first.  She just showed me round the apartment and the rooms where the party was going to be held.  She told me where to put the coats and where guests could change if that wanted to.”
“What?”
“Yes, that surprised me too.  I thought the guests would arrive dressed for the party.”
“So, didn’t they?” Jane asked
“Well some did.  It turned out it was like a fetish Halloween party, although it was more fetish than Halloween.”
“Gosh!  I didn’t know Rebecca was into that.  I ought to have realised from her latex skirt.”
“Oh, she didn’t wear that for the ‘real’ party.”
“What do mean the real party?”
“Well, it began as one party but then became another after the caterers left.   Anyway, so Rebecca showed me round and then took me to the kitchens where I met the caterers and the waiters.   I got some little whistles when I went into the kitchen." Andy blushed.  “At least I think they were for me and not Rebecca.”
Jane smiled at Andy.  He looked embarrassed but secretly she was proud of the pretty thing he’d become: as pretty if not prettier than any girl and with, in so many ways, a greater sense and aura of femininity.  All the reasons why she loved Andy came flooding back.  She wanted Andy as not just her lover but her girlfriend too.  She'd had close girlfriends before but none had been as sweet and affectionate.  It had been fortunate that she had kept the little toys from those earlier trysts and love affairs.  It meant she'd been well prepared for her new 'girlfriend'.
"It was one of the waiter boys who noticed 'Andrew' written on my apron.  He just pointed and said something like 'Is Andrew your boyfriend's name?'  I didn't know what to say at first.  Rebecca could see I was all confused and then she chimed in with, 'That's an unusual coincidence Andie: Andie and Andrew.' I said that I didn't have a boyfriend.  She replied, 'I thought Jane said you had.' Did you Auntie?"
At this point it was Jane's turn to get flustered. "Well, I never said you didn't."
"Oh, Auntie!"
"But I never said you did," said Jane trying to recover.
"What would they think of me?"
"That you were a very pretty girl with a very lucky boyfriend.  What do think they'd think?"
"Oh, I suppose so.  The boys certainly looked more hopeful.   Anyway, I said that 'Andrew' was the name of the manufacturer.  That seemed to satisfy the waiter, but Rebecca fixed me with a rather beady eye."
"Did she now?"
"Yes.  She got out her mobile phone and started tapping away while she took me round the rest of the apartment.  It was very large. She must earn an awful lot of money." Jane harrumphed: that job ought to have been hers, she thought.   "She showed me the bathrooms and then took me back to the coat room and said it would be my bedroom when the guests had gone."
"So you had your own bedroom.  Good."
"Er, yes."  Andy sipped his latte.  " Auntie is it possible to have something to eat, please. I'm famished."
"I thought you were getting a cooked breakfast?"
"There really wasn't time."  Andy went back to looking sheepish and turned his head down to avoid having to look Jane in the eye.
"I feel there's something you're still not telling me.  Anyway, what would you like?"
"A croissant, please.  An almond one if they've got them."
"Very well.  I'll get you one but I expect you to tell me everything that happened last night. And I do mean everything."  Jane stood up leaving Andy staring down at the table. As she passed him she ran her fingers through his hair and kissed the top of his head.  This time most eyes in the café were on the extremely attractive older lady wearing a dark navy cashmere sweater and a grey woollen skirt falling just below the knee.  Her silvery-grey coloured hair had slightly bouffant curls than ran down to her shoulders at the back although her roots confirmed that she was still a natural blonde.  It made her look distinguished as well as sexy.  While her calf length black patent boots with sharp, shiny gold stiletto heels provoked both interest and sadness with men resigning themselves to the beautiful lady's inclination, though even they couldn't fault her having feelings for her pretty young companion.
Jane strolled to the counter and ordered a croissant and another double espresso. She needed it to help stave off her tiredness and maintain her concentration.  She'd gone back to feeling annoyed but couldn't work out whether it was with Rebecca or with herself. What she did know was that it wasn't with Andy. She'd put him in this predicament. She had only herself to blame for that.  But through it all Andy, her Andy, was still the same sweet boy: more kind and feminine than any of her former girlfriends, more docile and affectionate than any past boyfriends, and definitely more lithe, energetic and attentive. She just needed to know what had happened to him.  He didn't seem hurt, he didn't seem injured.   In fact it seemed she'd hurt him more with how she'd treated him this morning than anything Rebecca might have done.
Jane paid and took the croissant and her small cup back to their table.  She put the food down and tousled Andy's hair again.  She turned Andy's face up towards her; once again tears appeared to be welling in his eyes.  "What's wrong, honey?"
"I'm worried Auntie."
"Worried about what, darling?"
"W...w...worried you're g...g...going to be ann....annoyed," stuttered Andy.
"Oh, honey.  You're so sweet." Jane stooped and hugged him kissed his cheek.  "Any fault is all mine.” She kissed him on the lips. There was a low gasp from certain parts of the café.  Jane didn’t care.  So what if she kissed her girlfriend.  It was a free world.  Who wouldn’t want to kiss her beautiful boy?  As she stood back up, she said with a smile, "At least our lippie matches so we shouldn't have smudged too badly."   She went round to her seat.  "Now what happened next?"
